Throughout July and August 2011 Mark Titchiner will be running a number of 5-day courses in raw glazed, single fired slipware. The aim of this course is to have some fun by taking a few risks with free form slip decoration, to spice up decorating skills and improve students' making skills with throwing or slab-work. Raw glazed once-fired slipware is ideal for this spontaneous approach and with a maximum of six students there will be plenty of one to one tuition. The Pottery is situated about 12 miles from the Suffolk Heritage Coast which is home to RSPB and National Trust nature reserves where there are some wonderful walks. You can also explore the footpaths that cross the fields surrounding the pottery where there is always something interesting to see in the form of wildlife and landscape.

In my Fused Glass Classes you will be shown how to heat glass to extreme temperatures forcing it to melt and mould the layers together. This process means that each item is different and unique. You will learn how to cut and make items of jewellery and glass art, such as pendants, earrings, coasters and light catchers. This is a fun day out and, with a maximum of 4 students, you can be sure of plenty of individual attention in a friendly atmosphere. If you are interested in experiencing stained glass work for the first time or in improving existing skills there will be an opportunity for you at the Strawberry Glass Studio. The workshops provide relaxed and fun time, working with small groups of up to four people to ensure the right amount of attention and support. Beginners will learn to cut glass to a pattern, work with a choice of lead or copperfoil construction, followed by soldering and finishing the piece ready for display. Improvers are able to work with their own designs, building on their existing skills and tackling more adventurous projects.
