Learn the ancient craft of glass bead making in this modern studio on the edge of the Peak District, just north of Sheffield. Sabine Little is an experienced lampworker and qualified teacher. During an introductory day, you can expect to make between 10-20 beads in a variety of designs, covering techniques such as pulling glass rod into thinner stringer and applying it, learning to use heat and gravity, and have time to start developing your own ideas. If you are interested in experiencing stained glass work for the first time or in improving existing skills there will be an opportunity for you at the Strawberry Glass Studio. The workshops provide relaxed and fun time, working with small groups of up to four people to ensure the right amount of attention and support. Beginners will learn to cut glass to a pattern, work with a choice of lead or copperfoil construction, followed by soldering and finishing the piece ready for display.
