The gardens at Lower Farm grow an abundance of healthy vegetables, mostly salad leaves, for sale locally, on beds which are surface composted instead of being dug, with very few weeds. Charles explains how he cleared the ground of grass and weeds without cultivation and uses the growing plants of different seasons to demonstrate a clear pattern of sowing at the best time for each vegetable. Courses from February to November, in the gardens in summer and indoors by the fire on cold days and in polytunnels, from 10.30am to 4pm. Susie cooks a delicious lunch with home made apple juice and cider, cost is £75. |
